DANIEL 1 - Daniel Trained in Babylon

1 In the third year of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came against Jerusalem and besieged it. 2 And the Lord delivered into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar King Jehoiakim of Judah and some of the things that were in the house of God. Nebuchadnezzar took them to the land of Shinar and placed them in the treasury of the temple of his god.

3-4 The king gave orders to Ashpenaz, the ruler of the palace officials, to select some young men of royal or noble descent from among the Israelites and bring them to the palace. These young people had to be flawless, handsome, wise in every subject, knowledgeable, capable of learning, and qualified to serve in the palace. Ashpenaz was to teach them the language and writing of the Chaldeans. 5 The king provided daily food and wine from his own table for these young people. After three years of training, the young people would be brought before the king. 6 Among the young men chosen were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah from Judah. 7 The ruler of the palace servants gave them new names. He called Daniel Belteshazzar, Hananiah Shadrach, Mishael Meshach, and Azariah Abed-Nego.

8 Daniel did not want to eat the food or drink the wine that the king had reserved for them, so as not to defile himself religiously. He asked the manager of the palace staff not to pollute himself in this way. 9 God caused the ruler of the palace to treat Daniel with love and kindness. 10 The man said to Daniel, “I fear our lord the king, who divides your portion of food and drink, if he sees your face paler than the face of other young men of your age, you will put my head in danger.”

11-12 Then Daniel went to the overseer whom the ruler of the palace had appointed over him and Hananiah, Mishael, Azariah, and himself, and said, "Give your servants ten days' grace, and during these ten days we may have vegetables to eat and water to drink." 13 Then compare our faces with the faces of the other young men who eat the king's food, and treat your servants according to what you see.” 14 The overseer agreed and gave them ten days' trial.

15 After ten days, the four youths appeared healthier and more well-fed than any of the other youths who had eaten the king's food. 16 So from that day on the overseer took away the food and wine that the king had reserved for the young men, and continued to give them vegetables.

17 God gave these four young men knowledge, skill, and wisdom in all matters. Daniel could interpret all kinds of visions and dreams.

18 When the time appointed by the king was completed, the court officials took the young men to Nebuchadnezzar. 19 The king conferred with them; There was none among them like Daniel, Ananias, Mishael, or Azariah. That's why they were appointed to the king's service. 20 The king tested them in matters of wisdom and understanding, and found the four young men ten times superior to all the magicians and soothsayers in his kingdom.

21 Daniel remained in the palace until the first year of King Cyrus' reign.

DANIEL 2 - Nebuchadnezzar's Dream

1 In the second year of his reign, Nebuchadnezzar had a dream. His soul was shaken with sadness and he lost sleep. 2 He summoned the magicians, the soothsayers, the sorcerers, and the astrologers to tell them what the dream was. They all came and stood before the king. 3 The king said, “I had a dream that shook me with sorrow. "I want to know what it means," he said.

4 Astronomers say in Aramaic: “Long live you, O king!” They said, “Tell your dream to these servants of yours so that we can tell you what it means.”

5 The king replied, “Unless you tell me what I saw in my dream and what it means, I have decreed that you will be torn to pieces, and your houses will be turned into a garbage dump. 6 But if you can explain the dream and what it means, I will reward and honor you with great gifts. So explain to me the dream and what it means.”

7 They said again, “O king, tell these dreams to your servants, so that we may tell you what it means.”

8 Then the king said, “I understand that you want to gain time because you know that my decision is final. 9 But if you do not tell me what the dream is, there is only one punishment for you. You agreed among yourselves to lie and tell me false things, hoping that the situation would change. Now tell me what the dream is so that I can understand what it means.”

10 The astrologers answered, “There is not a single person on earth who would grant you this request. Moreover, no great or powerful king has ever asked such a thing from a magician, a fortune teller, or an astrologer. 11 It is difficult to do the king's will. There is no one who can explain this to the king except the gods who do not live among men.”

12 Then the king became very angry and ordered all the wise men in Babylon to be killed. 13 So the command was given that they should all be put to death. Men were also sent to kill Daniel and his friends.

14 Daniel spoke wisely and intelligently to Arioch, the captain of the king's guard, who was going to kill the wise men of Babylon. 15 He asked Arioch, “Why is the king's command so harsh?” asked. Aryok explained the situation to Daniel. 16 Then Daniel asked for time so that he could go to the king and tell him what the dream meant.

17 Then he returned home and told his friends Ananias, Mishael, and Azariah what had happened. 18 And he bade them cry unto the God of heaven; So that God would be gracious to reveal this secret to them, so that he and his companions would not be killed along with the other wise men of Babylon. 19 In the night the secret was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised the God of Heaven.

20 He said:

“Blessed be the name of God from everlasting to everlasting!

Wisdom and power belong to Him.

21 It is He who changes the times and the seasons.

He dethrones kings and puts them on the throne.

Wisdom to the wise,

It gives information to those who understand.

22 He reveals deep and secret things,

Knows what's going on in the dark,

He is surrounded by light.

23 O God of my fathers,

I thank you and praise you.

You who gave me wisdom and strength,

You let me know what we wanted from you

And you revealed the king's dream to us.”

-Daniel Interprets the Dream

24 Daniel went to Arioch, whom the king had appointed to kill the wise men of Babylon, and said, "Do not destroy the wise men of Babylon. Take me to the king, and I will explain what the dream means."

25 Arioch immediately took him to the king and said, “I have found someone among the exiles of Judah who can interpret the king's dream.”

26 Then the king said to Daniel, whose other name was Belteshazzar, “Can you tell me about the dream I saw and what it means?” asked.

27 Daniel answered, “Not a wise man, nor a fortune teller, nor a magician can explain the mystery that the king wants revealed. 28 But there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries. He informed King Nebuchadnezzar what would happen in the future. The dreams and visions you have while lying in your bed are as follows:

29 “As you lay down, O king, you thought about the future, and the one who reveals the secrets told you what would happen. 30 As for me, O king, this mystery has been revealed to me, not because I am wiser than other men, but so that you may know what your dream means and understand what is in your mind.

31 “O king, in your dream you saw a great statue standing before you. It was very large and extraordinarily bright, and its appearance was frightening. 32 His head was pure gold, his chest and arms were silver, his belly and his thighs were bronze, 33 his legs were iron, his feet were partly of iron and partly of clay. 34 While you were looking, a stone was cut without the touch of human hands and struck the iron and clay feet of the statue, shattering them to pieces. 35 The iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold were broken to pieces at the same time; They became like chaff on the threshing floor in summer. Then a wind came and took them all away without leaving a trace. The stone that hit the statue became a huge mountain and filled the whole world.

36 “This is the dream you had. Now let us explain to you what it means. 37 You, O king, are the king of kings. The God of heaven has given you dominion, power, power, and glory. 38 He has delivered into your hand the children of men, the wild animals, and the birds of the air. He has made you dominant over all of them. You are the golden head. 39 After you, another kingdom will arise that is inferior to you. Then a third kingdom of bronze will emerge that will rule the whole world. 40 The fourth kingdom will be strong as iron. Because iron breaks and crushes everything. It will break and shatter everything like iron. 41You saw that the feet and the toes were partly made of potter's clay and partly made of iron; So this will be a divided kingdom. Then the strength of iron will be found in it, for you have seen iron mixed with clay. 42 Just as the toes are partly made of iron and partly made of clay, so the kingdom will be partly strong and partly weak. 43 As you see that the iron is mixed with clay, the peoples will be mixed together in marriage, but they will not remain united together, just as iron is not mixed with clay.

44 “In the time of these kings, the God of heaven will establish a kingdom that will never be destroyed or passed into the hands of any other people. This kingdom will crush and destroy the previous kingdoms, but itself will last forever. 45 You saw that the stone cut from the mountain, untouched by human hands, shattered iron, bronze, clay, silver and gold. The Almighty God explained to the king what would happen next. The dream is real and its interpretation is reliable.”

46 Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell face down before Daniel. He commanded that an offering and incense should be offered to him. 47 And he said to Daniel, "Surely your God is the God of gods and the Lord of kings, since you have been able to reveal this mystery. He is the one who reveals mysteries."

48 Then he appointed Daniel to a high office; He gave him many valuable gifts. He appointed him governor of the province of Babylon and made him the leader of all the wise men of Babylon. 49 At Daniel's request, he appointed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego to high offices in the province of Babylon. Daniel remained in the palace.

DANIEL 3 - The Golden Statue Set Up by Nebuchadnezzar

1 King Nebuchadnezzar made a golden image; It was sixty cubits long and six cubits wide. He planted it in the Plain of Dura in the Province of Babylon. 2 He summoned the satraps, prefects, governors, counselors, treasurers, judges, security guards, and all the other high officials of the provinces to the dedication of the statue that he had erected. 3 So the satraps, prefects, governors, counselors, treasurers, judges, guards, and all the other high officials of the provinces gathered together and stood before the statue, which King Nebuchadnezzar had set up, for the dedication. 4 Then the herald cried out with a loud voice, “You peoples, nations, and people of every language, this is commanded to you: 5 As soon as you hear the sound of trumpets, flutes, lyres, zithers, harps, drums, and all kinds of instruments, you fall down and fall down on the gold coin that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up. You will worship the statue. 6 If anyone does not fall down and worship, he will be thrown into the fiery furnace.” 7 Therefore whenever the sound of trumpets, flutes, lyres, zithers, harps, and all kinds of instruments was heard, all peoples, nations, and people of all languages fell down and worshiped the golden image that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up.

Daniel's Friends Are Accused

8 Then some Chaldeans approached and accused the Jews. 9 And the king said to Nebuchadnezzar, “Long live, O king!” They said, 10-11 “Everyone who hears the sound of trumpets, flutes, lyres, zithers, harps, drums, and all kinds of instruments will fall down and worship the golden image; You have decreed, O king, that whoever does not fall down and worship will be thrown into the fiery furnace. 12 But there are certain Jews named Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, whom you appointed to high offices in the province of Babylon. These men did not count you, O king. They do not worship your gods, nor do they worship the golden statue you have erected.”

13 Nebuchadnezzar was so angry that he summoned Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. These people were brought to the king. 14 Nebuchadnezzar said to him, “O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, is it true that you do not serve my gods and do not worship the golden image that I have set up?” 15 “Now, if you are ready to fall down and worship the image that I have made, as soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, the flute, the lyre, the zither, the harp, the drum, and all kinds of instruments, that is good! But if you do not worship him, you will be thrown into the fiery furnace. "Then let's see which god will save you from my hand."

16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered, “We do not need to defend ourselves in this matter. 17 “Even if we were thrown into the fiery furnace, O king, the God whom we serve can save us from the fiery furnace; He will save us from your hand. 18 But even if he does not save us, know that we will not serve your gods, O king, nor will we worship the golden image that you have set up.”

Daniel's Three Friends Are Thrown in the Oven

19 Nebuchadnezzar was very angry with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego; his attitude towards them changed. He ordered the oven to be heated seven times hotter than usual. 20 Then he commanded some strong men in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, and throw them into the fiery furnace. 21 So they were bound, their shalwars, their robes, their turbans, and their other garments, and thrown into the fiery furnace. 22 Because the king's command was so strict and the furnace was so heated, the flames of the fire consumed the men who carried Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. 23 And the three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, fell bound into the fiery furnace.

24 Then King Nebuchadnezzar stood up suddenly in astonishment. He asked his advisors, "Didn't we throw three people tied into the fire?" asked.

“Surely, O king,” replied the counselors.

25 The king said, “I see four men walking through the fire, untied and unharmed. The appearance of the fourth also resembles a divine being.”

26 Then he approached the door of the fiery furnace and said, “Come out and come here, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, servants of the Most High God!” he called out.

Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego came out of the fire. 27 The satraps, the prefects, the governors, and the king's counselors gathered around them. They saw that the fire had no effect on the men's bodies. Not a single hair on their heads was burned, their clothes did not change, and the smell of fire did not permeate them.

28 Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego!” He said, “He sent his angel and saved his servants who trusted him. They disobeyed my command and risked their lives not to worship any god other than their own God. 29This is what I command: Everyone who speaks profanely about the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, regardless of their people, nation, or language, will be cut to pieces, and their houses will be turned into a garbage dump. Because there is no other god who can save like this.”

30 Then he appointed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego to higher offices in the province of Babylon.

DANIEL 4 - The Second Dream of Nebuchadnezzar

1 King Nebuchadnezzar sent this message to all the peoples, nations, and languages of the earth: “Peace be with you! 2 I have thought fit to tell you about the signs and wonders that God Almighty has done for me.

3 “How great are its symptoms!

How glorious are his marvelous works!

His kingdom is an eternal kingdom,

His sovereignty will last for generations. 4 “I, Nebuchadnezzar, was at peace in my house and prosperous in my palace. 5 I had a dream that frightened me. As I lay in bed, my thoughts and visions frightened me. 6 I ordered all the wise men of Babylon to be brought to me to explain what the dream meant. 7 When the magicians, astrologers, and soothsayers came to me and I told them about my dream, they could not explain what it meant. 8 Finally Daniel came to me, who was called Belteshazzar, after the name of my god, and in whom was the spirit of the holy gods. I told him the dream I had. 9 “I said to him, “O Belteshazzar, chief of the magicians, I know that you have the spirit of the holy gods and can reveal every secret. Here is the dream I had: Explain to me what it means. 10 These are the visions I saw as I lay down: I saw a very high tree in the midst of the earth. 11 The tree grew and grew strong, and reached the height of the heavens. It was visible from all corners of the world. 12 Its leaves were beautiful, and it had plenty of fruit, enough for everyone. Wild animals were sheltering in its shade, and birds flying in the sky were perching on its branches. Every living thing was fed by it. 13 “As I lay on my bed, I saw in my visions a watchman, a holy being, coming down from heaven. 14 He cried out with a loud voice, 'Cut down the tree and its branches, tear off its leaves, and throw away its fruit, so that the animals that live under it and the birds that perch on its branches may flee. 15 But surround the stump with iron and bronze and leave it on the ground in the grass. “'Let him be wet with the dew of the sky, and let him partake of the grass of the earth along with the animals. 16 Let the human heart be changed from him, and let the animal heart be given instead of him. Let seven times pass. 17 The watchmen made this judgment, and the saints made the decision. So that every creature may know that the Almighty has dominion over the kingdoms of men and can give them to whomever He pleases, even the most despised one.' 18 “Behold, I am the dream of King Nebuchadnezzar! Now, O Belteshazzar, tell me what this means. Because none of the wise men in my kingdom could explain to me what this dream meant. But you can explain, for you have the spirit of the holy gods.”

Daniel Interprets the Dream

19 Then Daniel, whose other name was Belteshazzar, stood a while in astonishment, and his thoughts frightened him. Then the king said, “O Belteshazzar, do not be alarmed by this dream or its interpretation.” Belteshazzar said, “O my lord, if only this dream had come to those who hate you, and its interpretation to your enemies!” 20 “You saw a tree growing strong and strong, reaching up to the heavens and being visible to everyone on earth. 21 Its leaves were beautiful, and its fruit was abundant enough for everyone. Wild animals sheltered under it, and birds flying in the sky perched on its branches. 22 O king, you are that tree! You have grown and become stronger. Your greatness gradually reached the heavens, your sovereignty spread to the four corners of the earth. 23 “You, O king, have seen a watcher, a holy one, come down from heaven. 'Cut down the tree and destroy it, but surround the stump with the roots with iron and bronze and leave it on the ground in the grass. Let him be wet with the dew of heaven; He said, "Let him share with the wild animals until seven times have passed." 24 “This is the meaning of the dream, my lord the king, and this is the judgment that the Most High will bring upon you: 25 You will be driven out from among men and will live with the wild animals; You will be fed with grass like an ox, and you will be wet with the dew of the sky. Seven times will pass until you realize that the Most High rules over the kingdoms of men and gives the kingdom to whomever He pleases. 26 The order was given to leave the stump with the roots. This means that when you realize that the heavens rule, your kingdom will be returned to you. 27 Therefore, O king, accept my counsel: turn away from your sin by doing what is right, and from your iniquities by doing good to the needy. "Maybe your prosperity will last a long time."

The Dream Comes True

28 All these things happened to King Nebuchadnezzar. 29 Twelve months later the king was walking on the roof of the palace of Babylon. 30 The king said, “Here is great Babylon, which I have established as the capital of my kingdom with my mighty power, for my honor and glory!” said. 31 Before he had finished speaking, a voice came from heaven: “O King Nebuchadnezzar, the kingdom has been taken away from you. 32 You will be driven out from among people and you will live with the wild animals. You will feed on grass like an ox. Seven times will pass until you realize that the Most High has dominion over the kingdoms of men and gives the kingdom to whomever He pleases.” 33This promise to Nebuchadnezzar was fulfilled immediately. He was expelled from among the people. He was fed with grass like an ox. His body was wet with the dew of the sky. His hair grew like eagle feathers and his nails grew like bird claws. 34 At the end of the appointed time, I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted up my eyes to heaven and came to my senses. I praised the Almighty. I have honored and glorified Him who lives forever. His dominion is eternal dominion,

His kingdom will last for generations.

35 Those who live on earth are counted as nothing.

To the powers in heaven and to those living on earth

He does what he wishes.

will stop His hand,

I asked Him, “What are you doing?” There is no one to say. 36 At that moment I came to my senses. My honor and glory have been restored to me for the glory of my kingdom. My advisors and noble men sought me out. I have received my kingdom, and greater glory has been given to me. 37 I, Nebuchadnezzar, give thanks to the King of heaven. I praise and glorify Him. For all their deeds are true, their ways are righteous; He has the power to humble the proud.

DANIEL 5 - King Belshazzar's Feast

1 King Belshazzar gave a great feast to a thousand of his noble men and drank wine with them. 2 While he was enjoying his wine, he ordered the gold and silver vessels that his ancestor Nebuchadnezzar had brought from the temple in Jerusalem to be brought. So that he, his wives, his concubines, and noble men may drink with them. 3 So the vessels of gold were brought from the temple of God in Jerusalem; The king, his wives, his concubines, and his noble men drank with them. 4 While they drank their wine, they praised the gods of gold, silver, bronze, iron, wood, and stone.

5 Suddenly the fingers of a human hand appeared and began to write on the plaster of the palace wall next to the lampstand. The king saw the hand writing, 6 and his thoughts frightened him, and he turned pale; He became paralyzed and his knees were weak.

7 He called with a loud voice to the wise men of Babylon, the soothsayers and astrologers. He said to them, "Whoever reads this text and explains to me what it means will be dressed in purple clothes, a golden chain will be placed around his neck, and he will become the third leader in the country."

8 All the king's wise men came, but no one could read the writing or explain what it meant. 9 Therefore King Belshazzar became even more afraid, and became even more pale. His noble men were astonished.

10 Hearing the voices of the king and the nobles, the queen came to the banquet hall. “Long live, O king!” He said, “Don't let what's on your mind frighten you, don't let the fuel fade! 11 There is one in your land who has the spirit of the holy gods. During the reign of King Nebuchadnezzar, Atan was known for having insight, common sense, and divine wisdom. Atan King Nebuchadnezzar appointed him head of magicians, astrologers, and fortune tellers. 12 Daniel, whom the king calls Belteshazzar, has an extraordinary spirit, knowledge, and discretion. Moreover, he has the ability to interpret dreams, solve riddles, and explain mysteries. Send for Daniel, and he will tell you what the writing means.”

13 So they brought Daniel before the king. The king asked, “Are you Daniel, one of the exiles of Judah, whom my ancestor the king brought from Judah?” he asked, 14 “I have heard that you have the spirit of gods and are endowed with insight, discretion, and extraordinary wisdom. 15 I summoned the wise men and the soothsayers to read this text and tell them what it meant. But they couldn't explain what it meant. 16 I have heard that you can interpret and explain mysteries. If you read this article and can explain what it means, you will be dressed in purple clothes and a gold chain will be placed around your neck; "You will be the third leader in the country."

17 Daniel replied, “Keep your gifts and give your rewards to someone else. But I will still read the text and explain to you what it means.

18 “O king, God Almighty has given kingship, greatness, majesty, and glory to Nebuchadnezzar. 19 All peoples, nations, and people of all languages feared him and trembled because of his greatness. He could kill whomever He wished and keep alive whomever He wished; He exalts whomever He wishes and humbles whomever He wishes. 20 But when he became proud and disrespectful, he was dethroned and his glory was taken away from him. 21 He was driven out from among men, and the heart of an animal was given to him. He lived among the wild asses, ate grass like an ox, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, until he realized that the Almighty God has dominion over the kingdom of men and gives it to whomever He wills.

22 “But you, Belshazzar, his grandson, although you knew all this, you did not embrace humility. 23 Instead you have exalted yourself against the Lord of heaven. They brought to you the vessels they took from His temple. You, your wives, your concubines, and your noble men drank wine with them. You praised the gods of gold, silver, bronze, iron, wood and stone, who do not see, hear or understand. But you have not glorified God, who holds your breath in His hand and watches over all your ways. 24 Therefore God sent the hand that wrote that writing.

25 “This is what is written:

MENE, MENE, TEKEL and PARSİN.

26 “This is what these words mean:

MENE: God has numbered the days of your kingdom and put an end to it.

27 TEKEL: You were weighed on the scales and found wanting.

28 PERES: Your kingdom was divided into two and given to the Medes and Persians.”

29 At Belshazzar's command, Daniel was dressed in purple, with a golden chain around his neck, and was made the third ruler in the land.

30 Belshazzar king of the Chaldeans was killed that night. 31 Darius the Mede, who was sixty-two years old, took possession of the kingdom.

DANIEL 6 - Daniel is Thrown into the Lion's Den

1 Darius saw fit to appoint one hundred and twenty satraps to govern the whole country. 2 And he appointed three ministers over them, one of whom was Daniel. To prevent any harm to the king, the ministers would hold the satraps accountable. 3 Because Daniel was superior to the other ministers and satraps because of his extraordinary spirit, the king planned to appoint him over the whole kingdom. 4 Then the other ministers and the satraps began to look for an opportunity to accuse Daniel of his rule. However, they found neither blame nor fault. Because Daniel was a trustworthy man. They couldn't find any flaws or mistakes in him. 5 Finally they said, “Unless we can accuse Daniel of anything that has to do with the law of his God, we will have no reason to accuse him.”

6 Then the ministers and the satraps went together to the king and said, “Long live King Darius!” They said, 7 “We agreed, all the ministers, prefects, satraps, counselors, and governors of the land, that the king should enact a severe law. O king, whoever prays to any man or god other than you within thirty days, let him be thrown into the den of lions. 8 Now, O king, impose the prohibition; Sign the writing so that it cannot be changed, in accordance with the immutable law of the Medes and Persians.” 9 So King Darius signed the law containing the prohibition.

10 When Daniel learned that the law had been signed, he went home. The windows of his upper room facing Jerusalem were open. Three times each day he knelt down and prayed, praising his God, as he had done before. 11 When the men who had set a trap for him went there together, they saw him praying and supplicating to his God. 12 Then they went to the king and said to him, “O king, have you not signed a law that whoever prays to anyone or to any god other than you within thirty days should be thrown into the den of lions?”

“The law I have passed is valid according to the immutable law of the Medes and Persians,” replied the king.

13 Then they said, “O king, Daniel, one of the exiles of Judah, does not count you and the law you signed; “He prays three times a day,” they said. 14 When the king heard this, he was very upset and determined to save Daniel. He tried until the sun went down to save her.

15 Then the men went together to the king and said, “King, you must know that the law or prohibition of the king cannot be changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians.”

16 Then the king commanded that they should bring Daniel and throw him into the den of lions. And he said to Daniel, “May your God, whom you serve continually, save you!” said.

17 They brought a stone and placed it at the mouth of the pit. So that nothing about Daniel could be changed, the king sealed the stone with his own signet ring and the signet rings of the nobles. 18 Then he returned to his palace; He spent the night without eating or having fun; He lost his sleep.

19 At dawn he got up and hurried to the lions' den. 20 When he approached the pit, he said in a sad voice, “Daniel, servant of the living God, was your God whom you serve constantly able to save you from the lions?” he exclaimed.

21 Daniel said, “Long live you, O king!” 22 “My God sent his angel and shut the lions' mouths. They didn't hurt me. For I have been found innocent before God. And to you, O king, I have done no wrong.”

23 The king was very happy and ordered them to take Daniel out of the pit. Daniel was pulled out of the pit. No scars were found on his body. Because he trusted in his God.

24 According to the king's command, they brought the men who had falsely accused Daniel, along with their wives and children, and threw them into the den of lions. Before they reached the bottom of the pit, the lions grabbed them and broke their bones.

25 King Darius wrote to all the peoples, nations, and languages of the earth:

“May you have much peace!

26 I command everyone in my kingdom to fear and tremble before the God of Daniel.

He is the living God,

It will exist forever.

His kingdom will not be destroyed,

His sovereignty will not end.

27 He saves, he gives life,

In the sky and on the earth

Symptoms do amazing things.

It is He who rescued Daniel from the clutches of the lions.”

28 So things went well for Daniel during the reign of Darius and Cyrus the Persian.

DANIEL 7 - Daniel's Dream About the Four Beasts

1 In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon, Daniel dreamed a dream and visions as he lay on his bed. Then he wrote the summary of his dream; 2 said:

“I saw in a vision at night that the four winds of the sky were attacking the great sea. 3 Four great creatures came out of the sea, different from each other.

4 “The first creature was like a lion and had the wings of an eagle. As I watched, its wings were torn off, the creature was lifted from the ground and stood on its feet like a human. He was given a human heart.

5 “The second creature looked like a bear. He was sitting up on one side. He had three ribs in his mouth between his teeth. I said to him, 'Get up and eat as much meat as you can!' they said.

6 “Then I looked and saw another creature like a leopard. He had four bird wings on his back. This creature had four heads and was given sovereignty.

7 “The next night I saw in my visions a fourth creature, terrible and terrifying and very powerful. It had large iron teeth; He ate and tore it to pieces and trampled the rest under his feet. It was unlike the creatures before it. It had ten horns.

8 “As I stared at the horns, another smaller horn emerged from among them. Three of the first horns were ripped off before him. This horn had eyes like human eyes and a boastful mouth.

9 “While I look

Thrones were established,

The One who was of old has taken his place.

His clothes are white as snow,

The hair on his head was as white as wool.

His throne is aflame,

Its wheels were like fiery fire.

10 A river of fire flowed before him.

thousands of thousands

He was serving Him;

Tens of thousands tens of thousands

He was standing in front of you.

The court was established,

The books are opened.

11 “When I heard the boastful words spoken by the horn, I looked and saw that the creature was slain before my eyes, and its body was thrown into the fiery fire and was consumed. 12 As for the other creatures, dominion was taken away from them, but they were allowed to live for a certain time.

13 “In my night visions I saw someone like a human being coming with the clouds of the sky. He went forward to the One of old and was brought before Him. 14 To him was given dominion, glory, and a kingdom. All peoples, nations and people of all languages worshiped him. “His dominion is an eternal dominion that will never end, his kingdom is a kingdom that will never be destroyed.”

Think Comment

15 “As for me, Daniel, my soul was troubled, and the visions I saw terrified me. 16 I approached one of those standing there and asked him to explain the true meaning of all this.

“And he explained to me what these things meant: 17 'These four great creatures are the four kings who will appear on the earth. 18 But the saints of the Most High will receive the kingdom and keep it forever. Yes, forever.'

19 “After this, I wanted to know what the fourth creature meant, different from the others, very scary, with teeth of iron and nails of bronze, which eats and tears to pieces and tramples the remains under its feet. 20 Besides, I wanted to know what the other horn was after the ten horns on his head. Three horns fell from the front of this horn, as if they were larger than the others. He had eyes and a boastful mouth. 21 While I looked on, this horn was fighting against the saints and defeating them. 22 So it went on, until the ancient One, the Most High, came and judged in favor of his saints. It was time for the saints to receive the kingdom.

23 “He explained to me: 'The fourth creature is the fourth kingdom to appear on the earth. It will be different from all other kingdoms, it will devour the whole world, trample it and tear it to pieces. 24 The ten horns are the ten kings who will come out of this kingdom. After these, another king different from the previous ones will emerge and dethrone the three kings. 25 He will speak against the Most High and oppress His saints. It will aim to change the specified times and laws. The saints will be delivered into your hand for three and a half years.

26 “'But a court will be established, his rule will be put to an end, and he will be completely destroyed. 27 To the saints, to the people of the Most High, the kingdom and dominion and greatness of the kingdoms under the heavens will be given. 'The kingdom of this people will last forever, and all nations will serve him and obey him.'

28 “This is where the development of the event ends. As for me, Daniel, my thoughts frightened me so much that I turned pale. But I kept this incident inside.”

DANIEL 8 - Vision of the Ram and the Goat

1 In the third year of King Belshazzar, I Daniel saw a vision other than the one I had seen before. 2 In the vision I saw myself in the Fortress of Susa in the Province of Elam, next to the Ulai Canal. 3 And when I lifted up my eyes, I saw a ram standing by the canal; It had two long horns. The horn that grew later was longer than the other. 4 I saw the ram goring towards the west, towards the north, and towards the south. No animal could resist him, no one could save him from his grasp. The coach did as he wished and became stronger and stronger.

5 While I was thinking about this incident, suddenly a goat came from the west with a striking horn between his eyes. He crossed the whole world without touching the ground. 6 With strength and anger he rushed towards the two-horned ram, which I saw standing by the canal. 7 I saw him attack in his anger and strike the ram, breaking its horns. The ram had no strength to stand against the goat; The goat hit the ram to the ground and trampled it. There was no one to save the coach from his grasp. 8 The goat became very strong, but while he was at his strongest, his great horn was broken. In place of the broken horn, four horns emerged, striking against the four winds of the sky.

9 From one of these horns came another smaller horn; It became very powerful, spreading south, east, and into the Beautiful Land. 10 And it grew until it reached the army of heaven. He made some of the hosts and stars in the sky fall to the earth and trampled them under his feet. 11 He exalted himself as the Leader of the Host of Heaven. The daily offering to God was abolished, His temple was destroyed. 12 Because of the rebellion, the daily offering was rejected. The truth has been trampled underfoot. The little horn was successful in everything he did.

13 Then I heard a holy being speaking. Another divine being asked him, “How long will this vision last—the vision of the daily offering, the devastated rebellion, the trampling of the sanctuary and the army?” asked.

14 And the holy one said to me, “There will be 2,300 evenings and mornings, and then the sanctuary will be restored.”

Interpretation of the Vision

15 While I, Daniel, was trying to understand the meaning of my vision, a human-like figure stood before me. 16 I heard a human voice calling from the Ulai Channel, “O Gabriel, explain to him what the vision means.” 17 When Gabriel approached where I was standing, I fell down with fear. He said to me, “O human being!” “Understand that this vision is about the end,” he said.

18 While he was talking to me, I lay face down on the ground and fell into a deep sleep. He touched me and stood me up.

19 Then he said to me, “I will tell you what will happen later, when the wrath of God is finished, for the vision is about the appointed time of the end. 20 The ram you saw with two horns represents the kings of the Medes and Persians. 21 The goat is the king of the Greeks; The big horn between his eyes is the first king. 22The four horns that have grown in place of the broken horn symbolize the four kingdoms that will come out of your nation. But they will not be as powerful as the first king.

23 “When the end of these four kingdoms draws near and the evil done to them reaches its peak, a king will arise with a stern face and a master of deception. 24 He will receive great power that does not come from him. He will make astonishing destructions and be successful in everything he does. He will destroy the mighty and the holy people. 25 He will accomplish his work by deceit and will exalt himself. He will destroy many who are safe and will stand against the Leader of Leaders. But he will be destroyed without the touch of human hands.

26 “The vision that was told to you about the evening and the morning is true. But you keep the vision secret. Because it is about a distant future.”

27 I, Daniel, remained exhausted and sick for many days. Then I got up and continued to do the king's work. I was astonished by this incomprehensible vision.

DANIEL 9 - Daniel Prays

1-2 Darius son of Ahasuerus the Mede became king of the Chaldeans. I, Daniel, in the first year of his reign, understood from the Scriptures that the number which the LORD had spoken to Jeremiah the prophet was seventy years, the number of years during which Jerusalem would be desolate.

3 Then I turned my face to the Lord God. I begged Him with prayer, supplication and fasting; I put on sackcloth and sat in ashes. 4 And I prayed to the LORD my God and confessed our sins. I said:

“O Lord, the great and majestic God, who keeps his covenant with those who love him and keep his commandments! 5 We have departed from your commandments and statutes, and we have sinned, committed crimes, done evil, and rebelled. 6 We did not listen to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our princes, our fathers, and all the people of the land.

7 “You are just, Lord! Because of our disloyalty, you exiled us to lands far and near. We, the Jews living there, the people of Jerusalem, the Israelis, are ashamed today. 8 Yes, O LORD, we, our kings, our princes, and our fathers, are disgraced because of the sin we have sinned against you. 9 Even though we have rebelled against you, you are the Lord our God, merciful and forgiving. 10 We have not heeded the voice of the LORD our God, nor have we kept the statutes which he gave us through his servants the prophets. 11 All Israel has transgressed your law and turned their backs on you, refusing to listen to you.

“Therefore the curse written in the law of Moses the servant of God fell on us, and the oath was fulfilled. Because we have sinned against you. 12 You have fulfilled the words you spoke to us and to our rulers, bringing great destruction upon us. What happened to Jerusalem has never happened to any other city under the sky. 13 All these destructions have come upon us, as it is written in the law of Moses. Yet, O LORD our God, we have not turned from our sin and sought your favor by turning to your truths. 14 The LORD did not refrain from sending destruction upon us. For the Lord our God is just in everything he does. We did not listen to His words.

15 “O Lord our God, you brought your people out of Egypt with a mighty hand and became famous as it is today. We have sinned and done evil. 16 I pray, O Lord, that you would remove your wrath and anger from your city, Jerusalem, from your holy mountain, according to your righteous deeds. Because of our sins and the crimes of our ancestors, Jerusalem and its people became a laughing stock to everyone around us.

17 “Now, O our God, hear the prayer and supplication of your servant. For thy name's sake, O Lord, set thy face against the temple of desolation. 18 O God, give ear and hear! Open your eyes and see the ruined city that is yours. We ask not because of our righteousness, but because of your great mercy. 19 Lord, listen! O Lord, forgive me! Hear and act, O Lord! O God, do not delay for your name's sake! Because the city and the people are yours.”

Gabriel Makes a Statement

20 While I was still speaking and praying, confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and asking the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God, 21 while I was still praying, the man whom I had seen in the vision beforehand—Gabriel—came to me, flying quickly, at the hour of the evening offering. 22 “Daniel, I have come to give you understanding,” he explained. 23 “As soon as you began to cry to God, your prayer was answered; I came to report this. Because you are a very loved person. Therefore understand the meaning of the word and understand the vision:

24 “Seventy weeks have been appointed for your people and for your holy city, to put an end to rebellion, to put an end to sin, to atone for iniquity, to establish everlasting righteousness, to seal the vision and the prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy.

25 “Know and understand this: From the time the commandment is given to rebuild Jerusalem until the coming of the anointed leader, seven weeks will pass. In sixty-two weeks Jerusalem will be rebuilt with streets and moats. But this will happen in troubled times. 26 At the end of these sixty-two weeks the anointed one will be put to death, and there will be no one to support him. The people of the coming leader will destroy the city and the holy place. Its end will be with a flood: the war will continue to the end. It was decided that there would also be demolition. 27 The coming prince will make a firm covenant with many for one week. When half the week has passed, he will put away the sacrifice and the offering. "The destructive prince will place destructive abominations in the upper part of the temple until the decreed destruction comes upon him."

DANIEL 10 - Daniel's Vision at the Tigris River

1 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia, a secret was revealed to Daniel, who was called Belteshazzar. This secret about a great war was real. Daniel understood the mystery revealed to him in the vision. 2 At that time, I, Daniel, had been grieving for three weeks. 3 I neither ate good food nor meat, nor drank wine, nor anointed myself with oil, until the three weeks were completed.

4 On the twenty-fourth day of the first month, when I was by the banks of the Great River, the Tigris, 5 I looked up and saw a man clothed in linen, with a belt of Uphaz gold girded around his waist. 6 His body was like a yellow ruby. His face was shining like lightning. His eyes looked like flaming torches. His arms and legs shone like polished bronze, and his voice resembled the noise of a large crowd.

7 Only I, Daniel, saw the vision. The people next to me didn't see it, but they were terrified and ran away to hide. 8 So I was left alone. While I was watching this great vision, my strength ran out, I became completely pale, and I could not pull myself together. 9 Then when I heard the man's voice, I fell face down on the ground and fell into a deep sleep.

10 Then a hand touched me, and I trembled; He lifted me up on my knees and hands. 11 He said to me, “Daniel, you are very loved!” he said, “Stand up and listen carefully to what I have to say. Because I was sent to you.” As soon as he said these things, I stood up trembling.

12 “Do not be afraid, Daniel!” He continued, “Your prayer was heard the day you decided to come to understanding and humble yourself before your God. That's why I came. 13 The prince of the Persian kingdom stood against me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the kings of Persia. 14 Now I have come to tell you what will happen to your people in the last days, for this vision is about the future.”

15 When he said these things, I looked at the ground in silence. 16 Then someone like a human being touched my lips. So I opened my mouth and started talking. I said to the one standing before me, “O my lord, I am suffering from this vision and I cannot recover. How can I, your servant, speak to you? "My strength ran out, I lost my breath."

18 Again the human being touched me and strengthened me. 19 “Do not be afraid, you beloved one!” he said, “Peace be with you! Be strong! Yes, be strong!”

When he talked to me, I became stronger. “Keep talking, sir, because you have given me strength,” I said.

20 Then he said, “Do you know why I came to you?” He said, “Very soon I will return and fight the Persian leader. When I leave, the Greek leader will come. 21 But first I will tell you what is written in the Book of Truth. There is no one to help me against them except your leader Mikail.

DANIEL 11 - Kings of the South and North

1 “In the first year of Darius the Mede's reign, I stood by Michael to support and protect him.” 2 “Now I will tell you the truth: Three more kings will arise in the kingdom of Persia. But the fourth king will be richer than the other three. He will incite everyone against the Greek country with the power he will gain from his wealth. 3 Then a powerful king will arise. He will reign with great authority and do as he wishes. 4 But while he is at the height of his power, his kingdom will be shattered and divided into four parts like the four winds of heaven. The kingdom will not pass to his descendants, and none of his successors will rule like him. His kingdom will be destroyed and given to others.

5 “The King of the South will become powerful. However, one of his commanders will become more powerful than him and his kingdom will be great. 6 After a few years these two will be reconciled. To confirm the compromise, the King of the South will give his daughter as a wife to the King of the North. But she won't be able to maintain her girl power. Neither the king's life nor his power will last long. Meanwhile, the girl and her father, as well as those accompanying her and those supporting her, will be betrayed.

7 “A member of the girl's family will appear in place of her father. He will attack the army of the King of the North and take his castle. He will fight them and defeat them. 8 He will take their gods, their molten images, and their precious vessels of gold and silver, and take them to Egypt. He will leave the King of the North alone for a few years. 9 Then the King of the North will go and attack the country of the King of the South, and then he will return to his own country. 10 The sons of the King of the North will prepare for war and gather a great army. The army will overflow like a flood, carry away everyone, and come to the castle of the King of the South.

11 “The King of the South will come out in anger and fight against the King of the North. Even though the King of the North has gathered a large army, this army will be handed over to the King of the South. 12 When this great army is defeated, the King of the South will be filled with pride. He will kill tens of thousands of people, but his victory will not last long. 13For the King of the North will gather together a larger army than before, and after a few years he will advance into the land with a large and well-equipped army.

14 “Meanwhile, many will oppose the King of the South. Some tyrants among your people will rise up to fulfill the vision, but they will be defeated. 15 Then the King of the North will come and build mounds of earth and take over the fortified city. The Southern King's forces will not be able to stand against this. Even their most distinguished soldiers will not be able to resist. 16 The King of the North who attacks the city will do as he wishes, and no one will be able to stand against him. He will rule the Beautiful Land, and the authority to destroy it will be in his hands. 17 He will gather all the power of his kingdom and seek to attack the King of the South, and he will make a covenant with the King of the South. He will give him his daughter as a wife to destroy his country. But his plan will not succeed, it will not benefit him. 18 From now on he will move towards the seaside regions and capture many of them. However, a commander will put an end to his disrespect and reward him for his disrespect. 19 Then the King of the North will seek the strongholds of his own country, but he will stumble and fall. It won't appear again.

20 “The king who succeeds him will send someone to collect taxes by force for the glory of his kingdom. But in a few days it will be destroyed without anger and without war.

21 “He will be succeeded by a worthless man who has not been honored with the kingship. While the people are safe, he will come and take over the kingdom, thanks to the schemes he has established. 22 He will sweep away mighty armies and destroy them; The covenant leader will also be destroyed. 23 After making a covenant with him, he will use deceit. It will become stronger and stronger with a small number of people. 24 Suddenly he will attack the wealthy parts of the province and do things that his fathers and ancestors did not do. He will distribute plunder, plunder and wealth to his men. He will set up schemes to attack the castles, but this will not last long.

25 “He will gather his strength and courage and go out with a large army against the King of the South. The King of the South will also fight with a large and very powerful army. However, he will not be able to stand against him because of the established arrangements. 26 Those who eat from his table will seek to destroy the King of the South; His army will be dispersed and many will be shot and killed. 27 Both kings will plan evil. They will sit at the same table and lie to each other. But this will not do any good. Because the end will still come at the appointed time. 28 The King of the North will return to his land with great wealth, but his purpose will be to violate the sacred covenant. He will return to his country after doing what he wishes.

29 “At the appointed time he will return and attack the South again. However, this time the result will be different from before. 30 He will be discouraged by the ships that come from Kittim to oppose him. He will return and go against the holy covenant in anger, and will again favor those who have forsaken the holy covenant.

31 “Their soldiers will go and desecrate the temple and the citadel, and they will remove the daily offerings and put in the abomination of desolation. 32 The King of the North will flatter and entice those who break the covenant, but the people who know their God will stand against him with all their might.

33 “The wise among the people will teach many. But for a while, these people will either be killed by the sword, burned, taken prisoner, or deprived of their property. 34 When they are defeated, they will receive some help. Many insincere people will side with them. 35 Some of the wise will stumble; so that they may be purified and undefiled until the end comes. Because the end will still come at the appointed time.

36 “The king will do as he wishes. He will exalt himself as greater and more exalted than all the gods, and will speak unheard-of words against the God of gods. The wrath of God will prosper until it is completed. Because what is planned will come true. 37 The king will not care about any god, the gods of his fathers, or the devotion of women. He will consider himself superior to all of them. 38 In place of these gods he will glorify the god of strongholds. He will honor this god, whom his ancestors did not recognize, by offering gold, silver, precious stones, and expensive gifts. 39 With the help of this foreign god he will attack the strongest strongholds; He will greatly honor those who accept him, appoint them leaders over many, and divide the land among them as a reward.

40 “When the end comes, the King of the South will go to war with the King of the North. The King of the North will attack with chariots, horsemen, and many ships. It will overflow like a flood, sweeping away everything, and will pass through many lands. It will also enter the 41 Beautiful Countries, and many countries will be defeated. But the leaders of Edom, Moab, and Ammon will escape from his hand. 42 He will also attack other countries. Even corn will not escape his grasp. 43 He will seize the treasures of gold and silver and all the precious things of Egypt. The Luvites and the Cushites will follow him. 44 But the news coming from the east and the north will frighten him. He will go out in anger to destroy many. 45 He will pitch his palace tents between the sea and the beautiful holy mountain. Yet his life will end and there will be no one to help him.”

DANIEL 12 - The End of Times

1 “Then Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will appear. It will be a time of trouble such as has never been seen since the founding of the nation. During this period, your people—those whose names are written in the book—will be saved. 2 Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to eternal life, some to shame and everlasting abomination. 3 The wise will shine like the firmament for ever and ever, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars. 4 But you, Daniel, keep these words and seal the book until the end comes. Many will go hither and thither to increase their knowledge.”

5 I, Daniel, looked and saw two other beings, one standing on this bank of the river, the other on the other bank. 6 And one of them asked the man in the linen garments standing on the waters of the river, “How long will it be before these amazing things come to an end?” asked.

7 I heard the man clothed in linen standing on the waters of the river, lifting up his right and left hands to heaven and swearing by the name of the Living One forever, saying, “It will take three years and a half, until all these things come to an end, when the power of the holy people is completely broken.”

8 I heard what the man said, but I did not understand it. Therefore, "O my lord, what will be the end of these?" I asked.

9 He replied, “You go, Daniel. These words will be kept and sealed until the end comes. 10 Many will purify themselves and become spotless, but the wicked will continue to do evil. None of the wicked will understand, but the wise will understand.

11 “From the time when the daily offering is taken away and the abomination of desolation is placed, 1,290 days will pass. 12 Happy is he who waits and reaches 1,335 days!

13 “As for you, Daniel, continue on your way until the end comes. You will find rest and awake at the end of the days to receive your reward.”
